Social Worker Intern (LCSW, LMHC)

Position Overview:

Our organization is offering a rewarding and comprehensive Social Worker Internship for individuals pursuing licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). The Social Worker Intern will work under the supervision of experienced licensed professionals, gaining valuable hands-on experience in providing therapeutic services, conducting assessments, and assisting clients in various aspects of their mental health and well-being. This internship will provide a supportive and enriching environment for interns to develop clinical skills, engage in client-centered approaches, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of those seeking counseling and support.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Individual Counseling: Provide counseling services to clients under the supervision of a licensed clinician, addressing their emotional, psychological, and behavioral concerns.

  2. Group Therapy: Co-facilitate group therapy sessions, fostering a safe and supportive environment for clients to share and process their experiences.

  3. Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct initial client assessments and assist in formulating clinical diagnoses based on established criteria and observations.

  4. Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the supervising clinician to develop individualized treatment plans that address clients' specific needs and goals.

  5. Crisis Intervention: Assist in assessing and managing crisis situations, ensuring clients receive appropriate support and interventions.

  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate and thorough clinical records, adhering to ethical and legal guidelines.

  7. Referrals and Resource Coordination: Identify and connect clients with appropriate community resources and support services as needed.

  8. Professional Development: Participate in regular supervision sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

  9. Client Advocacy: Advocate for clients' rights and access to necessary services, ensuring their needs are met in a respectful and empowering manner.

  10. Ethical Practice: Adhere to professional ethical standards and codes of conduct while providing services to clients.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Master's degree program in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling, working towards licensure as an LCSW or LMHC.

  • Strong passion for providing mental health support and counseling services to diverse populations.

  • Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

  • Empathy, sensitivity, and cultural competence in working with clients from various backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and evidence-based practices related to mental health treatment.

  • Understanding of ethical and legal considerations in the provision of mental health services.

  • Commitment to ongoing learning, self-reflection, and professional growth.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a clinical team.

  • Proficient computer skills and experience using electronic health record systems.
