Disaster and Preparedness Coordinator 

Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate and resourceful Credit Counselor to join our team as a Disaster and Preparedness Coordinator. The Credit Counselor for Disaster and Preparedness Coordinator will play a critical role in helping individuals and communities prepare for and recover from disasters by providing expert credit counseling and financial support. This position requires a strong understanding of credit management, disaster preparedness strategies, and community outreach. The successful candidate will work closely with individuals and local organizations to promote financial resilience, develop disaster preparedness plans, and provide assistance during times of crisis. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Disaster Preparedness Planning: Develop and implement disaster preparedness programs and workshops to educate individuals and communities on financial readiness and credit management during emergencies. 

  • Credit Analysis: Analyze the credit health of individuals and assess their ability to withstand financial challenges in the event of a disaster. 

  • Financial Counseling: Provide one-on-one counseling sessions to individuals and families to create personalized financial plans that address disaster preparedness and recovery. 

  • Resource Coordination: Connect individuals with community resources, government assistance programs, and disaster relief agencies to enhance financial preparedness. 

  • Community Outreach: Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and community groups to raise awareness of disaster preparedness and financial resilience. 

  • Emergency Financial Assistance: Facilitate access to emergency financial assistance and support for individuals and families affected by disasters. 

  • Budgeting and Savings: Develop and deliver workshops on budgeting, savings strategies, and insurance coverage to help individuals build financial stability. 

  • Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention and support to individuals and families during and after disasters, offering emotional and financial assistance. 

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, disaster assistance provided, and program outcomes. Prepare reports as needed. 

  • Training and Development: Stay updated on disaster preparedness strategies, financial resources, and counseling best practices to enhance the quality of services provided. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Social Work, or a related field. Relevant certifications in credit counseling or disaster preparedness are advantageous. 

  • Proven experience as a Credit Counselor or Financial Counselor, with a focus on disaster preparedness and financial resilience. 

  • Knowledge of disaster preparedness strategies, community resources, and government assistance programs. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with individuals and engage community partners. 

  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to support individuals and families during challenging times. 

  • Familiarity with credit analysis and financial planning for disaster preparedness and recovery. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including credit analysis software and budgeting applications. 

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, especially during disaster response and recovery.
