Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Credit Counselor to join our team as a Small Business Development Trainer. The Credit Counselor for Small Business Development Trainer will play a pivotal role in providing expert guidance and education to entrepreneurs and small business owners seeking to enhance their financial management skills and access credit opportunities. This position requires a deep understanding of credit analysis, financial planning, and small business financing options. The successful candidate will design and deliver workshops, provide one-on-one counseling, and empower small business owners to make informed financial decisions that support the growth and success of their enterprises. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Workshop Design and Delivery: Develop engaging and informative workshops on credit management, financial planning, and small business financing for entrepreneurs and small business owners. 

  • Individual Counseling: Provide personalized credit counseling sessions to small business owners, analyzing their financial health and recommending strategies to improve creditworthiness. 

  • Credit Analysis: Evaluate credit reports, credit scores, and financial statements of small business owners to identify areas for improvement and credit access opportunities. 

  • Financial Literacy Education: Educate small business owners on financial literacy topics, including cash flow management, budgeting, and credit utilization for business growth. 

  • Financing Options: Explain various small business financing options, including loans, lines of credit, and alternative funding sources, tailored to individual business needs. 

  • Business Plan Review: Review and provide feedback on small business plans, financial projections, and loan applications to optimize creditworthiness. 

  • Resource Coordination: Connect small business owners with relevant financial institutions, micro-lenders, and business support organizations to facilitate credit access. 

  • Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with program guidelines and maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and documentation. 

  • Ongoing Support: Offer ongoing support and follow-up with small business owners to monitor their financial progress and address any additional questions or concerns. 

  • Market Research: Stay abreast of small business financing trends, market conditions, and industry developments to enhance training content.  

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications in credit counseling or small business development are advantageous. 

  • Proven experience as a Credit Counselor or Small Business Development Consultant, with a focus on supporting small business owners in credit and financial management. 

  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis, financial planning, and small business financing options. 

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills to effectively deliver workshops and counseling sessions. 

  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to understand and address the unique challenges faced by small business owners. 

  • Familiarity with small business lending practices, SBA loan programs, and alternative funding sources. 

  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including credit analysis software and business financial management applications. 

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
